The Cecil County Chamber of Commerce and the Cecil County Office of Economic Development are pleased to announce the guest speaker for the 3rd Annual Cecil County Business Hall of Fame Gala and the nominees for the Class of 2017. The Gala will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017, at The Wellwood in Charlestown, Maryland.
The Business Hall of Fame program recognizes and celebrates the dedication, innovation, economic impact, and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by businesses located in or serving Cecil County, Maryland. Inductees into the Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will be introduced at the Gala. One inductee will also be named “Cecil County Business of the Year”. The event is open to the public. The after-dinner speaker will be Elkton native Dr. Bernard J. “Pretty” Purdie, author and world-renowned drummer. Dr. Purdie will share anecdotes from his new book, ”Let the Drums Speak: The Life Story of the World’s Most Recorded Drummer”, and describe his experiences of recording and performing with Aretha Franklin, James Brown, B.B. King, Hall & Oates, Steely Dan and other well-known artists. The public is invited to join Chamber members and other distinguished guests in welcoming Dr. Purdie home as he shares his personal story of music and memories.
