The Cecil Guardian Newspaper has ceased it’s print edition as of our June 7th issue. It has been my pleasure over the last nine years working with Stephanie Palko our Editor and William (Bill) Hughes our special features reporter and photographer for bringing the County local news and articles about the people, places and things that make up Cecil County.
Stephanie has spent years bringing the issues that you needed to know. She was the guiding light for the Cecil Guardian and got to give her opinions every week in the editorial section. I know she will be really missed being out and about the county covering those issues. When you see her on the street or at community events stop and say thank you for all you have done for Cecil County.
Stephanie, thanks for all you have taught me about newspaper publishing and what you have done for Cecil County in general.
William (Bill) Hughes spent hours and hours promoting the Cecil Guardian and the Cecil County Brunch Club which he started. Filling thousands of seats in local restaurants and venues. He was know for his monthly “Senior Moments” column. He searched out the seniors in there 80-90’s and gave them the opportunity to tell their stories. He truly loves Cecil County and its people.
Bill, thanks for all you did!
The Guardian always printed the positive breaking news in the county. People would always say to me I look for the paper every week because it just makes me feel good to live here. Whether it be, local government, non-profits, our 8 small towns. We wrote about the positive things happening but kept you informed about issues and problems to.
We will be keeping our Web Site and Face Book pages up and running. Give us a little time to get our digital world in order. Check in and see how our social media sites evolve to keep you informed in a different way what is happening in the county.
As Publisher and owner of the Cecil Guardian I would like to thank personally our advertisers and readers for supporting us over the years. It has been a real pleasure and honor to meet so many of you. I will still be out and about to be involved with Cecil College and it’s Foundation to help the kids and citizens of Cecil County.
Cecil County Maryland moving forward and getting better and better. Get out, get involved and let’s help with the smart growth of our County!
