The Cecil County Liquor Board recently approved a Class D beer, wine and liquor license for the Elk River Brewery which will open at 112 E. Main Street in downtown Elkton in the near future.
“We own the building,” Bradford Lee Carrillo, Jr. told Liquor Board members. “We are putting equipment in the basement and a tasting room on the first floor.”
Carrillo said the brewery will have a six barrel system that is still being built.
The tasting room will be able to hold about 40 people.
Carrillo said that while Elk River Brewery will offer their products within the tasting room and growlers to go, he wanted the license to be able to offer wine and other beverages for customers who might not want to just drink the brewery’s products.
Elkton Mayor Rob Alt came to the Liquor Board meeting to support the new brewery.
“We truly believe this will be an asset to the town, having this brewery,” Mayor Alt said, noting how it will bring additional people to the downtown and help promote tourism.
Elk River Brewery is tentatively setting an April opening.
