Michelle Linkey was returned to the Perryville Town Board by voters this week. Everett “Pete” Reich will join the board. Linkey received 41 votes and Reich got 54 votes in an election where 99 townspeople came out to the polls. There were a total of four write-in votes, three for Anthony Gerst and one for Matt Roath. The town’s election was conducted by the Board of Election Supervisors which consists of Mark Fayer, Sr., Terri Grove, Wayne Kommalan and alternateSheron Alexander.
In Port Deposit, a very small voter turn-out gave Thomas Knight and Robert Kuhs another term on the town board. They were the only candidates on the ballot, but three seats were open. Town officials will have to appoint someone to fill the seat vacated by John Leeds.
Last week, Cecilton voters returned Joseph Zang to the mayor’s seat and also re-elected Jennie Brockell and Michael Cooper to the town Council.
While some towns have not had many people interested in running for office, Chesapeake City has several candidates for their Town Council election on June 5. Running for office are incumbents Trudy Carter and Frank Vari as well as Carolyn Blevins, Brian Blumen, Rebecca Mann and Bill Staker.
