Port Deposit will be a busy place this weekend as the Maryland State Firemen’s Association observes its 125th anniversary.
Water Witch Fire Company is one of four companies that are helping to honor the 125 years of community service provided by this organization.
Water Witch Fire Company has planned several events in Port Deposit for Saturday, April 22.
There will be an opening ceremony at the VFW at 9 a.m.
Parade participants will begin lining up at the VFW at noon.
There will be a history presentation at the town square at 1 p.m. by local historian Mike Dixon.
At 2 p.m., there will be a parade through Port Deposit.
Visitors to Marina Park will see antique apparatus and fire rescue boats.
There will be fireworks at dusk.
Helping with the event are sponsors VFW Post 8185, Lee’s Landing, Backfin Blues Bar & Grill, Granite Run Taproom and D’Lorenzo’s Pizza and Grille.
The town will be busy, according to Water Witch Fire Company member and town Mayor Wayne Tome.
“Lord knows how many people will be in town,” Mayor Tome said.
If interest in the event on social media is any indication of crowd size, Port Deposit will have a lot of weekend visitors.
“We’ve had 1,500 hits on Facebook,” said Town Administrator Vicky Rinkerman.
