How does everyone in Cecil County know that Spring has arrived? They come to St. Mary Anne’s Annual Garden Market and immerse themselves in garden plants and art with their friends and neighbors!
The 21st Annual Garden Market at St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church in North East will be celebrated this Friday and Saturday, May 4th and 5th.This eagerly anticipated event has grown into a celebration of Spring’s arrival for the entire Cecil community.
Beautiful plants of flowers, trees and vegetables will be on display and are available to purchase from local vendors. Beyond celebrating nature, the Garden Market also provides a venue for singers and musicians from neighboring schools to entertain the guests.
Monies raised at the Garden Market help support various parish ministries throughout the year. Revenue is generated from business sponsorships, the SMA’s Bake Table, Silent Auction, Plant Table, Hot Dog and Refreshments Table, as well as the Duck Races.
Thanks in part to the Garden Market, St. Mary Anne’s Church has one of the largest food banks in Cecil County, helping over 1,200 needy families and 3,600 individuals each year, and their newly renovated Parish Center remains an active weekly/monthly meeting place for local groups such as Scouts, Senior Citizens, 4-H, a community gardening club, a Chess Club, Al Anon, A/A, and two N/A recovery groups.
The Garden Market this year will be held, rain or shine, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Friday, May 4th and from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 5th. St. Mary Anne’s Church is located at 315 S. Main Street in the town of North East.
