Winterfest is in full swing in Chesapeake City! Along with the large lighted sculptures and decorated homes on both the North and the South Side, there is a full slate of activities and events all month long! Santa will be receiving children young and old in his new workshop at Town Hall (corner of Bohemia and 2nd Street) every Saturday and Sunday from 3 pm–6 pm, right up to the Saturday prior to Christmas, for all those last minute Christmas wishes!Kids of all ages can converse with Santa, craft an ornament for keeping or giving, sip on hot chocolate, nibble a cookie and even snap some fun selfies in Santa’s all new Elf Your-selfie Station!
The much-loved Winbak Farms Clydesdales, Diesel and Fire Cracker, are back again this year, gracefully taking folks on an old fashioned tour of the town by wagon.You can catch a ride at the corner of Bohemia and 2nd street every Saturday from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.On Sundays at 2 pm, exercise your vocal chords and raise your voice in song as the Chesapeake City Ecumenical Association Choir leads everyone in all their favorite Christmas carols in Pell Gardens.
On Sunday, December 3 Pell Gardens becomes a magical Frozen Winter Wonderland from Noon to 3 pm.Be enthralled as you watch a LIVE Ice Sculpting Demonstration by IceLab, Inc., take a selfie with an ice character, play Snowman Cornhole, get your face painted by The Snow Queen (your littles will know her as Elsa), and revel in a Winter Wonderland created courtesy of two snow machines! Canal Creamery will have plenty of hot cocoa and coffee! Santa might even make an appearance!
Grand historic homes, B&Bs, and churches roll out the welcome mat on the evening of Saturday, December 9th, for the much anticipated Annual Candlelight House Tour from 6-9 pm.This self-guided tour begins at Franklin Hall (98 Bohemia Avenue) where you can also purchase tickets for carriage rides through town.Refreshments will be available and as always, organizers proudly support TOYS FOR TOTS, so bring a new, unwrapped toy for the collection box.
For those who love to shop, also new this year is a “Trim It To Win It” contest featuring some fabulous prizes!Shoppers can pick up a blank Christmas Tree form in any shop to complete with “ornaments” from each shop they visit.Fully “trimmed trees” enter the shopper into a raffle which will feature several drawings.Prizes include 4 tickets for Chesapeake Water Tours, a Wine Tasting Experience at Crow Vineyards, a large vintage collectible Santa from Belle Connell’s Emporium, a local frame-able print donated by the Chesapeake City District Civic Association, and an Old Bay Crab Tray filled with Eastern Shore items.Santa will draw the winners during his workshop on Saturday, December 23.
