NORTH EAST, MD. – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 10th to celebrate the opening of Razor Strap Road in the area between Red Toad Road and the Maryland State Police Barracks. The bridge was officially opened to through traffic on June 13th.
Campers from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties in North East, who are currently learning about bridges and how they are constructed, assisted County Executive Alan McCarthy with the ribbon cutting. Phil Muzik, Chief of Engineering and Construction for the County, spoke with the children briefly after the ceremony about the process and materials involved in building bridges.
Director of Administration Al Wein, Director of Public Works Scott Flanigan and Roads Chief Dan Webber, as well as representatives from Century Engineering and Allan Myers Construction, were also on hand for the ceremony.
The Razor Strap Road bridge had been closed since 1994 after being deemed “structurally deficient.”
