Scott C. Tice, 40, of Rising Sun, MD died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home with his wife and son, Friday, June 26, 2015.
Scott was born in West Chester, PA on January 20, 1975. He graduated from Perryville High School in 1993. He was a singer/songwriter and a lover of music. In his younger years, he spent summers at the beach and followed the Grateful Dead with his dearest of friends. He worked in several upscale restaurants in Cecil County when he returned home. His final place of employment was the Cecil County Health Department assisting their addiction counselors, concentrating on the youth population in the County. He had multiple speaking engagements at various schools, organizations, rehab centers and was actively involved in helping those in need.
He met his wife, Sarah Carroll and her son, Ethan Carroll in 2008. They made their union official on June 18, 2011. He dedicated the last 7 years of his life to raising Ethan as his own, in a healthy, happy home and was the most loving, honest, loyal husband anyone could hope to find. His sense of humor will be greatly missed. He spent the last few years home with Ethan and taught him everything from how to read (at 4), ride a bike, pitch no-hitters, and most importantly how to be a genuinely good person. All of his wonderful qualities will live on through Ethan, Sarah and everyone whose lives he has touched.
All that knew Scott would say he was known for his sense of humor, his honesty (even if you didn’t like what he had to say) and his integrity. He was always willing to help others and was kind to everyone. He was definitely one of a kind, there’s no one else out there like him. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him, surely feel blessed.
He was an avid sports fan, his favorite sport being baseball and as Ethan would say “He taught me everything I know about baseball.” He loved spending time at Orioles games with his family and obsessively tracking the standings! This stems from his time as a child going to Phillies/Pirates games with his father.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Carroll and their son, Ethan Carroll. He is also survived by his father, Robert Tice, Sr.; his mother, Maureen Kyle; his brothers, Jason Tice, Robert Tice, Jr. and his wife, Amanda; and there will be many nephews that will miss their Uncle Scott. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Linda Brown and sister-in-laws, Lori Schnick-Ryan and Penelope Schnick-Shevenell. He was preceded in death by his dear brother, Brian Kyle.
A Service will be held in his honor at 3pm Friday, July 3, 2015 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may visit beginning at 1pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made payable to the Ethan Carroll Education Fund and sent in care to the funeral home.
